Pesto Pairing

I was invited to a dinner party this weekend and since I am FINALLY rehabilitated from my horrible cold/flu, I was ecstatic about the opportunity to take over the event with my very own food pairing! After calling the hostess, Sarah, and discussing with her what the main course would be, I casually offered to bring the wine (with full intentions of poaching her party at that point) and quietly decided what I was going to test:
 
Which would taste better with Pesto Pasta?
Unoaked Chardonnay
Sauvignon Blanc

As you will see in the video, one combo really struck me more than the other, but it was not only me – everyone in the party (except for my expecting friend, of course) agreed, regardless of whether or not that varietal was their preferred white.
