Enjoyed an ‘06 Sterling Vintner’s Collection Cabernet Sauvignon this past weekend with my family. I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth this bottle was in relation to it’s price point (~$20). Had a beautiful, subtle hint of creme brulee on the finish, but not overly sweet as a whole. It was a classic Cabernet flavor, but not too bold or spicy – just well-balanced and very drinkable. My group paired it with New York Strip and a mushroom risotto (pre-packaged from TJ’s). I was also thinking of making blue cheese mashed potatoes to pair with this, but didn’t run to the store for the crumbled blue cheese in time… Anyway, it was a great meal and everyone was raving about the wine (and the steak)!
